This adorable 2-year-old Terrier mix was brought to the SAHS in late May by a Good Samaritan. Pes had likely been in some kind of accident as he had extensive traumatic injuries to his hind leg and was crying when he was found.

This poor pup was put into the dedicated care of our Leeu Naylor Medical Building staff who determined that one of Pes’ legs was fractured into pieces beyond repair and badly infected, with amputation being the best route to save his life. Additionally, because such a severe expanse of his leg was damaged, Pes did not have enough skin to close the wound and needed daily bandage changes, flushing of his wounds, some honey skin treatments, and laser therapy. Through two months of intensive treatment, Pes never failed to be a sweet and loving guy, and we’re happy to say that he’s feeling much better and ready to find his forever home!

Despite the rough condition Pes came to us in, he definitely won the hearts of our team. With his adorable smile and gentle personality we knew from the start that he was sure to make the best pet for a loving family. While his injuries have healed amazingly, he will need a family ready to understand his needs and how to make sure he is comfortable moving around in a new space with his limited mobility as a tripod. Otherwise, he isn’t in need of any additional medical treatment as of now!

This sweet guy is sure to melt your heart, so come spend time with Pes today and give him a loving home.
