Haymitch – affectionate gentleman

This handsome 10-year-old feline is ready to find his forever family. Haymitch is a diabetic cat who came to the SAHS in April after being found as a stray, wandering around a local neighborhood. When he arrived in our care, he was underweight and not feeling his best. Haymitch does have renal disease, a condition that needs to be monitored by a primary care veterinarian when he goes home. And after some testing, we discovered his blood glucose level was over 450—well above the normal range for a regulated diabetic cat, which is between 100–300.

Thanks to our dedicated team in the Leeu Naylor Medical Building, Haymitch was started on a new oral medication to manage his diabetes. Within just two weeks, his blood glucose levels have stabilized between 150–250, and he’s steadily gaining weight and strength!

Haymitch is a sweet, talkative boy who loves human attention and affection. His new family should provide him with constant access to water, and a canned food diet would also help set him up for success! Haymitch will go home with a supply of his medication to give his future family time to establish care with a primary veterinarian.

After several weeks of healing and love, sweet senior Haymitch is finally ready for his next chapter. Come meet this affectionate gentleman and give him the safe, loving home he truly deserves!
