This 10-year-old feline joined us in mid-August after her previous owner experienced a lifestyle change and could no longer give her the care she needed. Upon intake, the staff noticed that Zelda had some concerning dental issues that they needed to take a closer look at.

Our Amazing team at the Leeu Naylor Medical Building determined that Zelda would need some major tooth extractions to ensure her health and happiness. After the extractions were completed, Zelda was put on a treatment plan that indicated she was only allowed canned wet food and crate rest while she recovered. But Zelda was quite the stubborn kitty and preferred to only eat dry food, so unfortunately, Zelda started to refuse to eat. Our medical staff was concerned about her refusal of food and decided that a feeding tube needed to be placed to ensure her health. This accommodation is essential for some pets, like Zelda, to thrive. After first flushing with a syringe of water, a blend of food and water is then slowly fed into the tube, followed by another flushing. As Zelda slowly recovered, her appetite returned as well, and now, Zelda can find her forever home!
Despite the few weeks she spent in medical holding, Zelda remained a friendly cat who was happy to greet everyone at her kennel despite not feeling her best! This adorable kitty may be on the older side, but she is still full of love to give and is so ready to find her forever home! Come in and say hello to Zelda and find out if she is the perfect missing piece in your family.
