Moonie is breathing easier

Moonie is a sweet 3-year-old Pug who is ready to find a forever family to love and care for her. This cutie was found as a stray in a park and brought to the San Antonio Humane Society in May. When she arrived, she was suffering from chronic skin irritation and a painful infection. Fortunately, she was quickly started on antibiotics and is already healing well.

In addition to her skin issues, Moonie showed signs of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome – a common respiratory condition in flat-faced dog breeds. To help her breathe more comfortably and improve her quality of life, she underwent a specialized surgery to shorten her elongated soft palate and widen her nostrils.

Now that she’s recovered, Moonie is breathing easier and feeling so much better! Her future family should be mindful of her condition by avoiding overheating, limiting strenuous activity, and always walking her with a harness to reduce respiratory strain.

Moonie is a loving and cuddly girl who can’t wait to start her new life in her forever home. She deserves a family who will be attentive to her health and give her all the love she’s been missing. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion, come meet Moonie today—she might just be the perfect fit for your family!
