It’s Cold Out Tonight!
San Antonio Humane Society Provides Tips to Keep Your Pets Warm

Tim

When temperatures reach freezing, the San Antonio Humane Society would like to offer tips to pet owners, so they may keep their companions warm and cozy during this time.

If possible, dogs and cats should be kept inside the house. If bringing in an animal that is usually outside, set up an area in the laundry room, bathroom, or carrier to keep him from getting into mischief.

Supply blankets or hay in the doghouse, for animals that must be kept outdoors. Raise the doghouse onto bricks to keep it off the cold ground and always remember that it should be big enough for your companion to sit and lie down comfortably, but small enough to maintain his body heat.

Always looking for a cozy spot to sleep, cats and kittens tend to rest on warm engines. Make sure to knock on the hood or honk the horn before starting the engine. If your animal is kept in the garage, provide a blanket to sleep on and always remember to check for toxic substances such as antifreeze!

Report Animal Abuse, Call 311 and ask for an animal cruelty investigator.
