SAHS joins Clear the Shelters ‘Adopt and Donate’ campaign
The San Antonio Humane Society (SAHS) is once again teaming up with NBC and Telemundo stations to find loving homes for pets in need with the Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign. To help individuals and communities continue to practice safe social distancing measures, the stations’ month-long “Adopt & Donate” effort will feature virtual pet adoptions and make it easy for people to donate online to participating shelters and rescues. The campaign runs from August 1 through August 31, 2020.
Throughout the campaign, the SAHS will continue its no-contact adoption process. Adopters can submit an online application at SAhumane.org/adoption. All applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once submitted, adopters can email adoption@SAhumane.org the name of pet(s) and ID# on the subject line and attach a government-issued ID and proof of residence. The adoption staff will then follow up with a phone interview, and once approved, the adopter can make an appointment to pick up their new pet.
To support the initiative, the SAHS will offer adoption specials all month long. Adopters can spin the “SAHS Adoption Wheel” to select their adoption discount! Discounts include 25 percent off the adoption fee, 50 percent off a Diane Bed, 25 percent off Purina food and much more. The FIRST 25 dog adoption will also receive a gift bundle.
This is the sixth consecutive year that NBC and Telemundo owned stations present their popular pet adoption campaign to communities nationwide in partnership with affiliate stations and shelters/rescues. Since 2015, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear The Shelters campaign has helped more than 411,000 pets find new homes.
This year’s Clear The Shelters’ “Adopt & Donate” campaign also features returning partners WeRescue and GreaterGood.org, and new partner 24PetWatch. Users can use the WeRescue iOS app to locate adoptable pets near their zip code, submit their pet adoption applications through shelters’ websites, and ask questions directly to shelters.

Also, 24PetWatch is enabling shelters to increase their exposure through 24Petshelter.com/cleartheshelter, a free website providing a full list of participating shelters and their adoptable pets along with a link to contact them.
