Urgent Need for Fosters

Shadow - FosterEvery day, the San Antonio Humane Society hopes for foster families to take in needy animals on a temporary basis. Sometimes it’s a litter of kittens that need to gain weight before becoming eligible for adoption, or a cute little puppy waiting to be showcased on TV. Other times, the SAHS is faced with the challenge of finding foster homes for animals that aren’t as cuddly but just as deserving of love.

Right now the SAHS is in urgent need of a few dedicated individuals willing to specialize in providing foster care for animals with skin conditions such as sarcoptic mange and ringworm. Because these conditions are contagious, such animals must be placed in foster homes immediately. Recovery time can last from a couple of weeks to several months. During that time, the SAHS will provide you with all the basic supplies (bedding, crates, litter, food, toys, etc.) and medications required to care for your foster pet. All we ask of you is to offer lots of love and a safe place for your foster pet to recover.

The unconditional love and gratitude you receive from an animal who knows that you truly saved him/her is well worth the time and effort you invest in preparing the animal for a loving permanent home.
