El Rey Fido XII & the Royal Court 2014

2014 El Rey Fido XII, Macy
Owner: Bonnie Driscoll

Macy was adopted from a local shelter, after being brought in with a crushed pelvis she was fostered and found her forever home with her owners, Bonnie and Mike. Macy is the younger sister to 3 year old Silky Terrier rescue named Mario. She is a very stoic beggar..sitting quietly and intently under the dinner table waiting for her name to be called for any tidbit. As a lover of nature, sitting on the patio watching birds and squirrels is her favorite pastime. She even blieves squirrels are for her own personal entertainment and exercise routine – chasing! Macy enjoys snuggling on the couch and watching TV after licking her “dad’s “entire bald head and wants nothing more than to play with a stick from time to time, except maybe to lick the occasional ice cream bowl!

Prince of the Perpetual Food Bowl, Voodoo
Owner: Celie Skidmore

Voodoo is a cute and friendly 2 year old Boston Terrier. He is an avid squirrel hunter and his favorite games are balloon volleyball and playing Frisbee. He would one day love to be a professional high jumper! Voodoo loves to play dress up and has even won a few costume contests at local parades. He enjoys long walks, snuggling under lots of blankets, and hanging out with his 2 and 4 legged brothers and sisters. Voodoo’s goal for this year is to be a great representative for the San Antonio Humane Society and is proud to serve on the El Rey Fido Court.

Duke of the Ever-Present Fire Hydrant, Duncan
Owner: Adrienne Havelka

Duncan is a super sweet 8 year old Great Dane who was rescued in 2007. This great big dog is named after another big guy that we all know, the great Tim Duncan from the Spurs. Despite his large size Duncan sometimes likes to think that he is a lap dog. He is super goofy and clumsy and is proud of being a couch potato. Duncan’s favorite place to be is on his very own love seat looking out the window.

Knight of the Royal Court, Taz
Owner: Louisa Witten
Taz is a 2 year old Jack Russell mix, found on the street as a stray, he was turned in to the SAHS and was adopted in 2012. Taz came home with a completely undisciplined and uncontrollable enthusiasm for life, play, and people. He took 2 clicker training courses with the Dog Training Club of San Anotnio, which meets at the SAHS Education Center and is now a regular in Group Classes conducted by Sit Means Sit where he seeks to fine tune his tricks, obedience and listening skills. In his free time, Taz loves to play soccer in the backyard, chase tennis balls, chew nylabones, show off his tricks and play with his rescue brother, Paco. He has been known to zip around the living room couch as many as 16 times without stopping. When he’s finally tired, Taz will drag his blanket out of his crate, plop down with a big knot of it in his mouth, and fall asleep while sucking on it. Taz is so pleased join the Royal Court in 2014, and he looks forward to serving as an SAHS ambassador to help promote the humane treatment of animals, responsible pet ownership and animal adoptions.
